Energy Conservation Poster Art and Slogan Contest: Be an Energy Conservation Hero!

October is Energy Conservation and Action Month.  In honor of this, we are offering a wonderful opportunity for students to show off their skills and earn bragging rights (and cash) by creating poster art and slogans for conserving energy.   This contest is open to all students, students with Art in their Heart, environmentally aware students, and any student who loves art and conserving energy, and all Cumberland County students’ kindergarten to 12th.  

Please create original artwork (not popular or copyrighted characters) All art should demonstrate the theme and express an artistic slogan related to energy conservation and action.  Note the resource information at the end of this form, for students to research energy conservation and what they can do toward this worthy cause. 




Submit ALL drawings from your school to the address below.
Submit your entries no later than the end of the business day at 5 pm, Tuesday, October 31, 2016No late posters will be accepted


Each entry Pre-K – grade 2 receives a Certificate

3rd to 12th Grades receive monetary awards in each category:
First Place –                    $100 and certificate
Second Place –               $75 and certificate
Third Place –                 $50 and certificate
Honorable Mention – Certificate

The drawings selected in the top sixteen will be displayed in the Cumberland County Board Room from December to February and the number one poster will be published in poster form and distributed to all schools in Cumberland County.

Judging Criteria:

All entries must strictly follow the contest guidelines. An entry form must accompany each submitted entry. All artwork must be original. Artwork will be judged as follows:  Subject Matter – Theme/Slogan, Originality and creativity, Artistic execution and craftsmanship, Appropriateness for reproduction                                 


Schools may submit as many entries as are created; so get everyone involved for a school-wide contest.  Please bring (do not bend) to CCS Operations 810 Gillespie St.

Each entry must be submitted through an identified class and teacher.

Each entry must have attached on the back of the artwork an Entry Form completely filled out. Entries will not be considered unless the Entry Form is attached and all of the information is filled out. Do not write on the front or back of the artwork.

All artwork must be original. No kits, traced, copied, altered, commercial or copyrighted artwork will be accepted.

All artwork must be two-dimensional drawings or paintings. Collages or three-dimensional artworks cannot be accepted.

A variety of art media may be used including watercolors, acrylics, colored markers, pen & ink, oil paints and tempera. Please, select media that is best suited for printing and reproduction purposes.

Each drawing must be labeled with a slogan.

The ALL entries must be 11” x 17”. Make sure there is a 1-inch margin all around the edge of the entries; so it can be reproduced and mounted without cutting off any creative efforts!

Artwork should be submitted flat.
